Tuscarora Wayne Mutual Foundation Supports Local 4-H Club and Helping Hand Food Pantry

The Tuscarora Wayne Insurance Company and the Tuscarora Wayne Mutual Foundation, Wyalusing, PA, participated in the 2022 4-H livestock auction held at the Wyoming County Fair on Saturday, September 3. The Company and Foundation won the bid for a 281-pound hog named Gilbert. Gilbert was raised by Aleah Robinson who attends the Tunkhannock Area School District, grade 7. This is Aleah’s first year as a member of the 4-H Endless Mountain Community Club. Over 200 pounds of pork cuts were donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, Wyalusing, PA. Helping Hands is a community outreach pantry that helps alleviate food insecurity and raises awareness of hunger in the communities it serves. 2021 Year-End Review

2021 “If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger.”   ~ Buzz Aldrin As we climb out of the many restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue our much-needed donations to volunteer food banks and pantries. Highlights: Tuscarora Wayne Insurance Company generously contributed $250,000. Through raffles, fundraisers, and payroll deductions the employees of Tuscarora Wayne contributed $85,085 through December 31. Donations made from the Foundation totaled $84,014, with $54,700 of those dollars directed to volunteer food banks. Donations of special interest include a memorial contribution to Philabundance in memory of fellow board member Scott Burgess, and to the Autism Society of America in conjunction with Keystone Autism Fund. Tuscarora Wayne Mutual Foundation The Year in Review The Foundation continues to serve its mission of “Serving the Underserved”.  This year as we struggled through state shutdowns in the spring of 2020 and continue to struggle with restrictions related to the COVID-19 Pandemic we set out to fulfill our mission to combat food insecurity.  Under normal conditions one in eight Pennsylvanians are at risk of hunger and for children it is one in six.  We noticed longer lines at local food banks during the pandemic and we set out to donate the much needed funds to as many food banks and pantries as we could.
